London, 1884. An elephant-man is exhibited in a fairground booth. Intrigued by his terrifying deformities, Frederick Treves, a young surgeon, manages, for a fee, to snatch him from his Bytes manager and drives him to the London Hospital to examine it in detail. Discovering gradually that he is a sensitive and intelligent being, the young doctor decides to take him home and introduce him to his wife.
